One Room Challenge Fall 2019 Week 5

One week left to the final reveal of my office! This has been the most exhilarating and absolutely crazy 5 weeks. I know understand why so many people do the ORC! It’s kind of addicting, and knowing you will have a room complete in the end is mind blowing! For anyone new here you can read more about the One Room Challenge.

In short….The One Room Challenge™, currently in its fourteenth season, is a biannual event every April and October. Each round, twenty design bloggers and hundreds of guest participants (like me) take the challenge and transform a space. Here is more information on the event. ORC

This week we finished some details. I was able to work on art for the room and I got my chair back from the upholsterer! I am smitten with how it turned out!

The first thing we had to do was get the lighting hooked up. I joked with my husband that the room will be done but we won’t have lights to see it. So, he tackled that this week. The light I chose has a vintage gas burning streetlight feel and that’s what drew me in to purchasing it. You can find it here from Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores. It’s classic but current!

The next thing we set out to do this week was the shelving. I found these triangular brackets from and they are the coolest! They’re just so different from simple brackets I’ve seen. You can find the brackets Right Here

My favorite part of this past week was gathering art! I appreciate so many different styles and ideas and I wanted to incorporate a lot of those. I found this vintage little portrait of a little girl and originally thought I would just use the frame. I found her at Goodwill for a whopping $7.99! The frame alone was worth more than that!

I decided to keep her with the frame but decided to jazz her up a bit. I grabbed a bottle of acrylic paint, tape and a brush. I taped off a trapezoid and painted just that section.

I really like how it’s vintage still but has a modern twist to it!

The last thing I needed to do this week was pick a door color for the room. The back side of the door is now black! I could not be happier with my decision. It ties the rest of the room together in the cutest little bow! The color is Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams.

This next week I need to finish all of the little details like paint touch ups, style everything and start taking a ton of pictures! I hope you come back next week to see this final room reveal! It’s going to be a good one!

Thanks so much for dropping by! Have a great day!
